Two years on from Volume 1 humongous vamps, a groove-friendly blend of Afrobeat and jazz-rock is the order of the day once more, the bold forcefulness of the Swedish trumpeter’s approach matched by the striking typography of the cover design. An omniverous blend of a big range of sounds, if ever a case of better to hear the band live then this is it, a wash of energy cascading from the speakers at every turn. There are changes here but more cosmetic in nature and this is every bit the story continued rather the beginning of another chapter. The Arkestra with its beefed up horns, organ, guitars on selections ranging eclectically from a take on a Milton Nascimento song to indie favourite Grizzly Bear, the baggy momentum of the latter’s ‘Yet Again’ kept to last easily the best thing here.
